Abstract: It is difficult to get robust deformation results using conventional Differential InSAR method, due to lack of enough SAR images jointly used in SAR interferometry. In this paper, we use Small Baseline Subset (SBAS) DInSAR algorithm to monitor the temporal evolution of surface deformation in mining area. A temporal deformation sequence of Lengshuijiang mining area of Hunan Province is retrieved from DInSAR phase based on virtual observation method and SBAS algorithm. The retrieved deformation sequence reveals the development and evolution of the subsidence “bowl” of the mining area. The result demonstrates that using both SBAS algorithm and the method of virtual observation can improve the accuracy of deformation monitoring with InSAR.
